The 2020 Miss USA pageant was originally scheduled in the spring of 2020. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was pushed back several months to Nov. 2020. On Nov. 6, the 51 contestants competed in the preliminary evening gown and swimsuit competitions. The top 16 finalists from these preliminary rounds would move onto the main competition on Nov. 9.

Miss USA 2020 was hosted by Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, host of ‘American Ninja Warrior’ and a former football player, and Allie LaForce, who won Miss Teen USA in 2005. Cheslie Kryst, who won Miss USA 2019, and Christian Murphy, served as backstage commentators, while Haley Reinhart was announced as the sole musical artist to perform. The judges are Carolyn Aronson, Lynnette Cole, Abby Hornacek, Gloria Mayfield Banks, Kimberly Pressler, and Susan Yara.
